The farm grows coffee in the shade using agroforestry and complies with Rainforest Alliance standards. It supplies the community of Escaleras with drinking water from protected springs in the mountainous region. The farm’s land contributes to water production for the Yasica river basin. The forest area is vital for local flora and fauna, including black panthers, jaguars, deer, wild boar, coatis, guatuzas and unique bird species. The black panther logo symbolizes the farm’s commitment to wildlife preservation. In addition, 35% of the farm is a forest reserve in the “El Arenal” National Nature Reserve, a rare nebliselva reserve in Nicaragua.
