Every roasting house roasts differently and therefore the same green coffee will taste different from company to company. This sampler will allow you to taste the different roasts we offer so you can get a better feel for how we slow roast our coffees. The coffees run the gamut from mild to strong, from smooth to smoky and from light to full bodied. The sampler comes with a half pound ( 227gr) each of our Des Monts Blend, Tanzania peaberry american roast, Howard1 blend, Espresso Nuevo Blend and Foret Noire house black roast and an Ethiopian Yergacheffe black roast.
Des Monts Blend : Our house blend, from the Americas, roasted as one, to a brown/American style roast. Smooth, rich, aromas of caramel and fine nuts, a nice easy drinking everyday coffee. Medium body, bright acidity with a medium long finish.
Tanzania Peaberry American roast : Tanzania produces some of the finest arabicas coming out of Africa, the Tanzania Peaberry offers bright acidity, berry fruit aromas with medium to full body, and a medium to long finish. A little more floral than the Kenya, this coffee has no problem standing on its own. As with all African coffee these days, the Tanzanian coffees are becoming more difficult to obtain, even at premiums, so they must be doing something right!
Howard 1 Blend : This is a medium strength blend, similar to the Plateau but with a little african coffee to give it more body, aroma and length. This is a smooth drinking, very flavorful coffee. The african coffee really comes out in the cup, a very balanced cup of coffee.
Espresso Nuevo : An Italian roast designed to bridge the gap between our House blend Espresso and the heavier African dark roasts, the Nuevo is different blending of coffees from the American, roasted together, producing a coffee with good body, aromas of peppery caramel and hazelnuts and a smooth, medium finish. Perfect for those looking for a dark roast with a little more bite, but not bitterness.
Foret Noire Black Roast : Our darkest house blend from central and south American beans, roasted together resulting in a typical french style roast, dark, smoky, and flavorful. This coffee presents with medium body, bright acidity, lots of aroma and a beautiful refined finish. A great cup of coffee, strong, lots of flavor, no bitterness.
Ethiopia Yergacheff Black roast : Ethiopia produces some of the finest arabicas coming out of Africa, the Ethiopian Yergacheff offers bright acidity, berry fruit aromas with medium to full body, and a medium to long finish. A little more floral than the Kenya, this coffee has no problem standing on its own. In the black roast this coffee is very smoky, the floral hints are more in the background and it remains full bodied with a long finish.
